Trade: Vietnam August wood imports down 6.8 percent, China and USA dominate supply
Vietnam imported US$288.46 million of wood and wooden products in August, down 6.8 percent from July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date imports reached US$2.11 billion.
China remained the largest supplier at US$105.38 million, down 3.4 percent month-on-month, making up nearly 40 percent of the total.
The USA followed with US$60.80 million, a 13.9 percent decline, while Thailand contributed US$13.57 million, up 8.9 percent.
Imports from France, Germany, and New Zealand also eased slightly.
The market remains heavily concentrated, with China and the USA accounting for over half of Vietnam’s wood imports, while smaller suppliers such as Laos and Chile maintained niche shares.
