Vietnam’s exports to the United Kingdom rose sharply in July, reaching US$804.98 million, up 23.9 percent from June and bringing year-to-date exports to US$4.68 billion, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Telephone and mobile phone exports led the surge, climbing 48.3 percent month-on-month to US$165.62 million.
Machinery exports also grew strongly by 50.6 percent to US$105.73 million, while computers and electrical products advanced 50.7 percent to US$95.01 million.
Footwear and garments saw little change, edging up by just 0.5 percent month-on-month.
Notable gains included toys and sports requisites, which more than doubled with a 116.9 percent rise to US$43.16 million, and pastry and cereal products, up 94.6 percent to US$6.74 million.
Cashew nut exports increased 12.7 percent to US$13.63 million, while fruit and vegetable shipments grew 31.6 percent to US$6.16 million.
Some commodities posted declines.
Coffee fell 2 percent to US$18.20 million, iron and steel plunged 61.4 percent to US$4.11 million, and bamboo and rattan products dropped 35 percent to US$2.09 million.
Rubber exports also contracted by nearly 59 percent.
The data shows Vietnam’s export profile to the UK remains highly concentrated in electronics, footwear, and textiles, while food products and niche categories provide additional growth momentum.
