The US Department of Commerce has issued final affirmative determinations in antidumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) investigations on corrosion-resistant steel (CORE) products from 10 countries including Vietnam → view source.
The decision, announced on 26 August 2025, covers about US$2.9 billion in imports.

Of note, global trade barriers on Chinese steel, especially in the US and EU, have redirected flows of cheap Chinese steel into Southeast Asia.
Vietnam has absorbed much of this inflow, creating oversupply in its domestic market.
As a result, Vietnam has had to cut rates on its own steel in order to export more abroad, which explains these antidumping and countervailing duties being applied to its own steel products too.
