Investment: Vietnam’s foreign investment inflows rise 27.3 percent in first eight months of 2025
Total foreign investment capital registered in Vietnam reached US$26.14 billion as of August 31, 2025, according to the National Statistics Office.
This marked an increase of 27.3 percent compared with the same period last year, including newly registered projects, adjusted capital, and capital contributions or share purchases.
Newly registered capital amounted to US$11.03 billion across 2,534 projects, down 8.1 percent in value but up 12.6 percent in project numbers year-on-year.
The processing and manufacturing sector attracted the largest share at US$6.53 billion (59.2 percent), followed by real estate with US$2.37 billion (21.5 percent).
Singapore led among 78 countries and territories, investing US$3.06 billion (27.8 percent), followed by China with US$2.65 billion (24.0 percent), Sweden with US$1.0 billion (9.1 percent), and Japan with US$878 million (8.0 percent).
Adjusted registered capital surged to US$10.65 billion across 996 projects, up 85.9 percent year-on-year.
Combined newly registered and adjusted capital brought total FDI in processing and manufacturing to US$13.64 billion (62.9 percent), while real estate accounted for US$4.98 billion (23.0 percent).
Capital contributions and share purchases by foreign investors reached US$4.46 billion, up 58.8 percent.
Of this, US$1.65 billion (37.0 percent) went into processing and manufacturing, US$982 million (22.0 percent) into science and technology, and the remainder into other industries.
Realised FDI stood at US$15.40 billion in the first eight months, up 8.8 percent year-on-year and the highest level for this period in five years.
The processing and manufacturing industry absorbed US$12.57 billion (81.6 percent), real estate US$1.24 billion (8.0 percent), and electricity and gas US$564 million (3.7 percent).
