Vietnam imported US$557.59 million of petroleum products in August, a sharp 26.45 percent decline from July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date imports reached US$4.69 billion.
Singapore remained the top supplier with US$132.45 million, down 34.82 percent month-on-month, and accounting for nearly 37 percent of the total.
South Korea followed with US$173.03 million, down 37.10 percent.
Malaysia and China contributed smaller but still significant volumes, while Thailand’s shipments stayed relatively stable.
The figures show Vietnam’s heavy reliance on regional refining hubs, particularly Singapore and South Korea, which together supplied nearly two-thirds of August imports.
