Vietnam produced an estimated 3.62 million tonnes of coal in July 2025, down from 4.07 million tonnes in June, according to Vietnam’s National Office of Statistics.
Cumulative output for the first seven months of 2025 reached 28.05 million tonnes.
This marked a year-on-year increase of 3.9 percent compared with the same period in 2024.
July alone showed a 3.4 percent rise over last year.
The data indicates that while monthly fluctuations are evident, overall production levels remain on a growth trajectory.
Rising demand from power generation and heavy industry continues to underpin coal output, though policy efforts are simultaneously pushing for a greater share of renewables in the national energy mix.
Coal remains a central pillar in Vietnam’s energy strategy, but longer-term trends point to diversification of sources.
