Vietnam imported US$200.90 million worth of paper in August, down 11.13 percent from July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date imports reached US$1.60 billion.
China was the top supplier with US$79.43 million, down 10.03 percent month-on-month and making up nearly 39 percent of total imports.
Indonesia ranked second with US$25.21 million, down 22.20 percent, followed by South Korea at US$23.71 million and Japan at US$16.81 million.
Imports from Malaysia and Sweden also declined, while Austria nearly doubled its shipments compared to July.
The USA and several European suppliers accounted for small shares, highlighting Vietnam’s reliance on Asian partners for paper supply.
