Vietnam exported US$743.33 million worth of goods to Thailand in August, up 11.27 percent from July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date exports reached US$5.58 billion.
Electronics led with US$134.76 million, followed by machinery at US$125.99 million and phones at US$84.49 million.
Transportation parts added US$58.40 million, while other major categories included crude oil at US$32.32 million and coffee at US$28.16 million.
Chemicals surged over fourfold month-on-month, while cashew nuts rose 25.47 percent. In contrast, plastics, textiles, and animal fodders saw double-digit declines.
Exports to Thailand remain diversified, though electronics and machinery continue to drive growth, highlighting Vietnam’s regional manufacturing integration.
Of note, the Thai economy and the Vietnamese economy are increasingly interlinked, with both economies benefiting from ASEAN and RCEP frameworks, which lower trade barriers and promote supply chain integration.
More specifically, when it comes to Thai trade, the country relies heavily on exports of automobiles, electronics, and agricultural products, with Vietnam serving as an important partner market.
Conversely, Vietnam trade is marked by strong growth in textiles, footwear, seafood, and agricultural goods, much of which finds buyers in Thailand.
