• September 2022: DNV was engaged in providing the evidence required to demonstrate the safe use and conversion of the local transmission systems (LTS) high-pressure pipelines for transporting 100% hydrogen. The gas distribution company SGN manages around 3,100 km of the LTS pipelines in the United Kingdom and is leading this project working in collaboration with other United Kingdom gas networks.
• June 2022: Both Netherlands and Germany decided to jointly drill for gas in the North Sea. The permits issued by the Dutch government will be available for online inspection, and an accelerated procedure for the required permits is underway in Germany. A pipeline is being built to transport the gas on land, and there will also be a cable to a nearby German wind farm for the electricity supply on the gas field. The first gas is expected to be produced by the end of 2024. The new drilling field is expected to be in the North Sea, more than 19 km offshore on the Dutch-German border.
